PAADAL PETRA STHALAM - KARUR SRI PASUPATHYESWAR TEMPLE

This is the 265th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva sthalam and 7th Sthalam in Kongu Nadu. Thiruganasambandar  has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.

Iraivan : Sri Pasupatheswarar, Sri Pasupathy Nathar, Sri Pasupathy
Iraivi    : Sri Kirupanayaki, Sri Soundyarya Nayagi

Some of the important features of this temple are....
  1. This is the birth place of Eripatha nayanar and Karuvur thevar wgho had sung the Thiruvisaippa.
  2. The temple is facing east with a 7 tier Rajagopuram.
  3. Moolavar is little slanding position on a square avidayar. There is cow's leg mark on Sivalingam. It was learnt that Iraivan leaned to one side to hear Kruvur Thevar's Thiruvisaippa.
  4. There is  stone dwajasthamban  after entering the Rajagopuram. On the base pudai sirpam of Pukazhal Chozhan with  head load on side and Cow milking on Shiva Lingam on the other side. This sort of Dwajasthambams may be seen in many of the Siva Temples in Erode, Coimbator and Salem districts.  
  5. The temple was constructed during Chozhar's period. There is a 100 pillar mandapam in front of the sannadhi. This is one of the five capital ruled by Chozha Kings.
  6. There is a Jeeva Samadi for Sri Karuvur thevar.  
  7. Sannadhi for Natarajar, Ganapathi, Sri Valli devasena Sri Subramaniyar, Sri Lakshmi, Navagrahas, Bairavar, 
  8. There are two sannadhis for Ambal.  Srti Alankara nayagi in one sannadhi and Sri Soundarya nayagi in another sannadhi.

264 /6 ThiruPandikodumudi ( Now the place is called as Kodumudi)

This is the 6th Devara Paadal petra shiva Sthalam in Kongu Naadu. Moovar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.

Iraivan : Sri Makudeswarar, Kodumudinathar, Malaikozhuntheesar.
Iraivi    : Sri Mathurabhashini, Thiripurasundari, Panmozhinayaki.

Some of the important features of this temple are...
  1. Bharatvasar, Agasthiyar worshiped lord shiva of this temple. 
  2. Temple is on the banks of river cauvery.
  3. It was believed that a piece of meru was fallen here, hence the place is called as Kodumudi.
  4. There is a Vishnu temple ( Sri. Veeranarayana Perumal )inside the premises with separate dwajasthambam.
  5. It is a parikara sthalam foir Naga dhosham.
  6. The mandapam pillars are with lot of reliefs.
  7. The temple has Sundarapandiyan Kesary period epigraphs. 
  8. Dhashinamoorthy with a single Sanakatha munivar and with sadamudi.

  1. The kodumudi is on the way to Karur from Erode about 1/2 hour journey.
  2. The kodumudi is on the railway route from Erode to Trichy
