108 DIVYADESAM TEMPLES -THIRUKOSHTIYUR - ARULMIGU SOWMIYANARAYANA PERUMAL THIRU KOIL

20, October 2011
This is one of the 108 Divya Desam Perumal temples, situatedat Thirukoshtiyoor, near Thiruppattur ( Karaikudi). All the buses from Thiruppattur to Sivagangai passes through this place  and the temple is on the main road. The perumal has three shires of Nintran, Irunthan & Kidanthan.  Since I went to the temple at the time of  closing I had a dharshan of  Kidanthan. The temple complex is very big. It needs atleast 3 hours to see all the shrines.  This temple is famous for the Mantra “OM NAMO NARAYANA”.   Sri Ramanujar  preached the mantra to all the peoples after receiving from his Guru, after 18 visits,  from the top of the Rajagopuram.

It is surprise to have a dharshan of Lord shiva at the entrance of  Perumal temple, which has  kodimaram and nandhi, inside the complex. You can proceed  to perumal sannathi only after having dharshan of  Lord Shiva. The details of this sannathi is not known.

Some of the pictures taken through my mobile is attached. & Inside the temples I could not take pictures.

( The 5 tier Rajagopuram from where Sri Ramanujar told the Manthiram "om Namo Narayana " to the peoples, which he learned from his guru )
