SRI KAMAKSHI SAMEDHA SRI KAILASANATHAR TEMPLE AND ETTI VINAYAGAR TEMPLE AT PADIRI VILLAGE

One of my friend Mr Muthu Arunachalam requested me to visit Padiri Shiva Temple, in which he contributed for  the  reconstruction and  Kumbhabhishekam. Also requested me to create a web site for this temple. Since I am not a web designer, thought of creating a web blog in google. On 4th September 2016, visited the Village.  

ஞாயிரு நண்பர் முத்து அருணாசலத்துடன் ஒரு விஜயம் மேல் மருவத்தூரிலிருந்து வந்தவாசி செல்லும் பாதையில் பாதிரி என்னும் கிராமம் நோக்கி.. சுமார் ஆறு அடி ஆழத்தில் இருந்த செங்கற்களால் கட்டப்பட்ட கயிலாயநாதர் சிவன் கோவில்..அதிட்டானம் மட்டும் கற்களால் கட்டப்பட்டு இருந்தது..கல்வெட்டுக்களின் படி இது ஒரு சோழர் கால சிவன் கோவில்..மூர்த்தங்கள் மட்டும் பழைமையானது..கோவிலை மீண்டும் இக்காலத்திய வடிவில் கட்டிவிட்டனர்..குறைந்த பட்சம் கல்வெட்டுக்களையாவது பாதுகாக்க வேண்டினோம்...

Some of the important details of this temple are….
  1. The temple is facing east with an entrance arch with Nandhi devars on both sides as guardians.
  2. The Nandhi is under a small mandapam with palipeedam. Before that there is a small pillar under this OM Namasivaya ‘ manthiram written are kept in a box.
  3. The old moorthams are retained and a new Pillayar was added keeping the old Pillayar out side due to unknown reasons.
  4. In the prakaram Sannadhis  for, Vinayagar, Valli Devasena Sri Subramaniyar sitting on a peacock, whose  face is on the right side, Bairavar, Suryan and Sandikeswarar.
  5. The sanctum sanctorum is with sanctum, Arthamandapam and muka mandapam of recent construction. The stucco dwarabalakars standing in front of moolavar sanctum.
  6. In koshtam Dhakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma.
  7. Ambal is in a separate sannadhi facing south in the muka mandapam.
  8. As per legend, the temple was created and worshiped by Saint Agasthiyar, while he was in south  to balance north  during the Shiva and Parvathi’s marriage.
  9. Sri Chidambaram Swamikal on the way to Thiruporur, visited this place and worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple. Also he has got money of one varakan  from Sri Ganambigai, to whom Chidambaram Swamikal gave the meaning of Thiruvasaka hymn Thirusathakam section.  Chidambaram Swamikal started the Thiruporur Murugan temple thirupani with this money.
  10. As per the dismantled  base stone inscriptions the temple was constructed during Chozha period and advised the villagers at least to protect the stone slabs to prove its antiquity.

  1. The temple is open between 07.00 Hrs to 11.00 Hrs and 17.00 Hrs to 19.00 Hrs for Dharshan.

HOW TO REACH :
  1. Since the temple and the Village is about 2 KM off main road on the way to Vandavasi  to Melmaruvathur main road, can be reached through an Auto from Melmaruvathur Bus stand.
  2. All the buses from Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, Salem stops at Melmaruvathur Bus stand
  3. The nearest Railway station is Melmaruvathur and the Padiri Village is about 10 KM.
