The visit to this
temple was not planned earlier. After the Thenneri Shiva Temple visit, on the way
to Tambaram, Mr. Kesavan, a Heritage Enthusiast, told me about this temple with the Pallava period Gajalakshmi, and hence decided to visit this temple.
The temple is open to the sky with a Shivalinga, Nandhi, Balipeedam, and Siddhi Vinayagar. A Gajalakshmi
panel was installed near Shivalinga, in
which Lakshmi is sitting on a Lotus with both legs touching the floor. She
is shown with two hands holding lotus flowers and a Pallava period makuda.
Elephants are shown on the sides.
It was said that there was
a Pallava-period Shiva Temple that existed in the same place, and inscriptions are
also recorded. Mahashivratri is celebrated grandly.
