Thiripura Sundari samedha Thiruvalishwarar Temple / Thiruvaleeswarar Temple / திருவாலீஸ்வரர் கோயில், சிறுவஞ்சூர் / Siruvanjur, ( Nattarasanpattu ), Kanchipuram District Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Thiruvalishwarar Temple at Siruvanjur near Nattarasanpattu was a part of a Shiva and Vishnu temples on the east and west sides of the Grand Southern Trunk Road (GST Road) from Old Perungalathur to Chettipunyam on 14th November 2021.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The temple faces east with an entrance mottai gopuram. The temple tank is in front. Balipeedam and Rishabam are immediately after the entrance. There are no images in the Deva koshtam and Chandikeswarar sannidhi. Ambal sannidhi is facing south.

Vinayagars, Ayyanar/Sastha with Elephant are in the mukha mandapam. Lakshmi Narayanar and Murugan are in the ardha mandapam.

ARCHITECTURE.
The present temple is in a dilapidated condition. The sanctum sanctorum is covered with a tarpaulin to prevent rainwater from entering the sanctum sanctorum. The Ambal temple is also in bad shape. The original temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, the ardha mandapam, and the maha mandapam. There is no vimanam. A meta-colour sheet shed is installed, covering the maha mandapam and ardha mandapam, to avoid further damage.

As of April 2026, the temple is under reconstruction, an eka tala  Gajaprishta vimanam is under construction, above the sanctum sanctorum.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
There are no inscriptions found to prove its antiquity. As per the Iconography and temple architecture, the temple may be 400 to 500 years old.

As of April 2026, the temple is under renovation, and a Gajaprishta Vimanam is under reconstruction through Sivamayam Group. 

LEGENDS
It is believed that Vali worshipped Lord Shiva in this temple; hence, Lord Shiva is called Thiruvalishwarar / Thiruvaleeswarar.

As per the legend, this temple was built by a Pallava king named Vali. It is said that he was suffering by some rare skin disease and to get rid of it, based on the guidance from his guru he built this temple. He excavated the temple pond and took a bath, and then worshipped Shiva of this temple and got relieved from the disease. Hence, the Shiva of this temple is called as Thiruvaleeswarar.

As per the deva prashnam, it is said that even to this day the Navadurgas are worshipping Thiruvaleeswarar here, and a few rare stones called Navadurga stones, used to build the Ambal Thripurasundari Sannidhi.
 
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Oru kala pooja is conducted, and special Poojas are conducted on Pradosham and Maha Shivaratri.

TEMPLE TIMINGS
Since oru kala pooja is conducted, the closing or opening of the temple is unpredictable.

HOW TO REACH
The temple at Siruvanjur is about 500 meters from human habitation/village.
The temple is 7 km from Orathur, 11 km from Padappai,  and 48 km from Chennai.
The nearest railway station is Tambaram.
