This temple is on the left side of the Sri
Kurungaleeswarar temple, ie, in front of the 16-pillar mandapam.

Some of the important details of this temple are….
Sri Anjaneyar sannidhi is in front of the temple
and by the side of the 16-pillar mandapam of the Shiva Temple. The mottai gopuram without Vimanam on the top. Dwajasthambam, Garudalwar, and Balipeedam are at the front of the outer praharam. In
the sanctum Moolavar, Sri Vaikunta Vasa Perumal with his consorts
Sridevi and Bhoodevi. Perumal’s left hand is in ahvana hastam, and it signifies that Perumal is calling the devotees to bless them.
This is one of the unique postures of Maha Vishnu.
Sannadhi for Sri Kanaka Valli Thayar is on the left, and Andal's sannadhi is on the right in the outer praharam.
In the maha mandapam, Valmiki, Lavan
& Kusan, Sita in Maravuri, and Alwars.
On top of the mukha mandapam, stucco images of Sri Ramar
fighting with his sons Lavan and Kusan. It is believed that Ramar fought with
his sons to get back his Aswamedha Yaga Horse.
Also, one of the special features of the temple is
Sri Ramar with Sita without Lakshmana and Hanuman.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple was constructed with stone from adhistanam to prastaram. The temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam, and maha mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum is on the upanam and adhistanam. The pilasters are of brahmakantha pilasters. The koshtas are sala style. The prastaram consists of valapai and kapotam with nasi kudus. A two-tier brick vimanam, greevam, and vesara sgaram is above the bhumi desam. Maha Vishnu's various forms/avatars are on the tala and greeva koshtams.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
Since the Kurugaleeswarar temple belongs to the Chozha period, it is believed that this temple might have been built during the same period. Later received contributions from Viajayanagaras.
LEGENDS
It is believed that Sita, along with her sons Lava and Kush, lived here, under the care of the Valmiki Maharishi. They worshipped Maha Vishnu of this temple. During their stay, Lava and Kush had a fight with Rama. To get rid of the sin, Lava and Kush installed Shiva Lingas and worshipped Shiva.
