07th January 2018.
For a change this week joined with Jain community heritage enthusiasts for the Ahimsa walk at Asa Nellikuppam, Uppukulam (a part of Arakkonam Town), and Kavanur led by Mrs. Sasikala. Though this Shiva temple visit was not planned earlier, added to the list since it was told that a Tirthankara was kept along with nagars under the Bodhi tree, which was excavated in the Village.

LEGEND
As per the legend, Durvasa Maharishi gave Indira the garland after performing pooja to Lord Mahavishnu. His vahana Iravatham destroyed the garland with its leg. On seeing this, Muni Durvasa cursed Indira to lose his Indira / Raja position and a reduced life. To get rid of the curse, after visiting many Shiva temples, came to this place, Arumbakkam, and worshiped Lord Shiva with a lotus from the moat. Lord Shiva blessed him with a full life and gave him the Indra position also. Hence, those who lost their job may pray to Lord Shiva to get back a good place for conducting poojas to increase life, like Shastiapthapoorthi and Sathabhishekam.  To get rid of problems related to the womb, abhishekam may be performed on Ambal with 108 lemon juice.
