Thiruveethi Amman Temple / Arulmigu Sri Thiruveedhi Amman Kovil / அருள்மிகு ஸ்ரீ திருவீதி அம்மன் கோயில், Kalikundram, Taramani, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to this Sri Thiruveethi Amman Temple at Kalikundram, a part of Taramani, was a part of the “Shiva, Vishnu and Amman Temples Visit” in Anna Nagar, Arumbakkam, and Mogappair on 16th October 2022.  It was a long wish of mine to visit the Amman Temple with its unique features.

Some of the salient features of this temple are…..
The temple and Amman are facing east. Stucco Dwarapalakis are in front of the sanctum sanctorum. Amman in the sanctum is in a sitting posture with abhaya varada hastam. The upper hands are holding weapons. An unearthed Amman in front of the temple is installed below the presiding deity. Amman's various forms are in the koshtam.

In Praharam Vinayagar, the old Amman is under a neem tree. Srivalli Devasena Subramaniar, Kubera Lingeswararar, Ambal Tripura Sundari, Anjaneyar, Bairavar and Navagrahas.

ARCHITECTURE
The whole temple was constructed with bricks in recent years. The Mandapam ceiling was constructed on the prastaram level. A 3 tier Salakara Vimanam is constructed over the sanctum sanctorum. Stucco images of Amman’s various forms are on the Vimanam.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
This Thiruveedhi Amman is a grama Devatha Temple. About 50 years before, the Amman was in the form of stones kept under a neem tree; later, an Amman Vigraham was unearthed in front of the temple. A Small temple was constructed and worshiped.  In 2020, the present temple was constructed, and Maha Kumbhabhishekam was also conducted.

LEGENDS
It is believed that Amman Guards the Village from all the diseases and evil forces that come from outside the Village.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Fridays and during the annual festival in the month of Aadi. 

TEMPLE TIMINGS
The temple will be kept open between 07.00 hrs and 10.00 hrs and between 17.00 hrs and 19.30 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
The temple is very near to Central Polytechnic College.
The temple is 1.9 km from Madhya Kailash (Kasturba Railway station is just opposite Madhya Kailash), 3.9 km from Adyar Bus Depot, and 15 km from Chennai Central Railway Station.
The nearest Railway station is Indra Nagar MRTS railway station.
