Loose sculptures of Amman and Various deities are kept in Ambal Temple's ardha mandapam and outside the temple. In addition to this, some more loose sculptures are dumped on the east side abutting the compound wall, which consists of saptamatrikas in three pieces and Amman.

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The original temple belongs to the Chozha period and received contributions from the Pandyas and Vijayanagras, and Nayakas. The temple was renovated without disturbing the inscriptions.

In one of the inscriptions, Sundara Pandiyan, who ruled Kongu Nadu, has given Tax exemption to the weavers in the year 1298 CE.

The other inscriptions record the gifts given to the temple for burning a perpetual lamp and naivedyam / amuthu to Shiva of this temple.

This is the birthplace of Perunthalaichathan, who composed the Natrinai, one of the Sangam literature.
