The visit to these Hero Stones /Sati Stone/ Memorial Stones at Chinna Negamam was a part of “Temples, Hero Stones, Memorial Stones, Hero Stambhas (Mala Koil) and Heritage Sites Visit, around Pollachi”, on 31^st January 2026 and 1^st February 2026. PLACE             : Chinna Negamam   

LOCATION       : An exclusive temple of Zamin Memorial in the

                         Coconut farm.

TITLE              : Zamin Memorial Stones  

PERIOD           : 19th – 20th century

DETAILS         :

There are four idols and a memorial stone installed in a temple without a roof. These four idols are Chinna Negamam Zamins, who constructed the Chentraya Perumal Temple, which is about 500 meters away from this shrine. The idols are Kondama Nayakar, Muthammal, Vellaveeayammal, and Muthuvallakondama Thelaiya Nayakar.

LOCATION       : Sri Selva Chenraya Perumal Temple.

TITLE              : Zamin Memorial Stone  

PERIOD           : 19th – 20th century

DETAILS         :

This Memorial stone is kept at the Sri Selva Chenraya Perumal Temple praharam. Both Husband and his wife are in Anjali hastham. It is said that these are the present Zamins (6^th generation), ancestors.

PLACE             : Malapali, Nallampalli.  

LOCATION       : Before Malapali, Nallampalli, and 3 km from

                        Pollachi To Palani Highway

TITLE              : Hero Stone, Memorial Stone, Thai Nadukal.

PERIOD           : 16th – 19th century

DETAILS          :

This group consists of 9 Hero stones / Sati Stones / a Thai Nadukal. The sati stones are erected for a hero with two wives. The heroes are in Anjali hastham with a bow on the left shoulder. In one of the sati stones, a rifle is shown along with the hero.

A lone hero stone is shown holding a raised sword in the right hand and a shield in the left hand. This hero might have died in a war, may belong to the 16th to 17th century.  

In Thai nadukal, the woman is shown with a child. The usual feature of cattle herds on both sides of the Thai Nadukal is missing.

PLACE             : Kondegoundenpalayam

LOCATION       : Sakkarai Vinayakar Temple

TITLE              : Memorial Stone/ Nadukal

PERIOD           : 19th – 20th century

DETAILS         :

This is a unique Nadukal, with Hero and his wife shown in a standing posture with Anjali hastham. The hero is shown with a big moustache and 19th – 20th century Nayaka Zamindhar’s turban. Both are wearing ornaments around the neck and in elongated earlobes. The dress extends below the waist to the ankle. In addition, images of a horse rider, a man and a kalas / kuduvai are also shown in this hero stone.
