On 12th Feb 2012, we
had been to Nadupalani Sri Maragatha Dhandayuthapani hill temple and had
the darshan of Sri Maragatha Dhandayuthapani. ( The deity is
similar to the Sri Dhandayuthapani Temple at Palani ). The hill shrine ( 108
steps with one landing mandapam at middle) was built by Siddhar
Sri-la-Sri Muthuswamy and after his jeeva samadhi, the temple is being
managed by Maragatha Thandayuthapani Thathathreyar Trust. The hill temple
is located near Acharapakkam on Chennai to Tindivanam route (
There is an arch before Acharapakkam Village 2 km - There is also a
Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam at Acharapakkam 10 km away from this hill
temple). It is a pleasant sight of the hill surroundings from the
hill top during evening hours with cool breeze & clean air. At the
base of the hill Pillayar on the right side and Sri Rajarajeswari is
on the left with a mahameru gopuram. The Sri Dhandayuthapani
deity is made of Maragatha stone of about 3 feet height. Sri
Dhandayuthapani glitters during arathi. The Milk abhishekam is being
performed only on Tuesdays and monthly Kiruthigai.
Lot of devotees are
taking patha yathra with Kavadi from Chennai and various places on the occasion
of Thai Poosam, Panguni Uthiram & Aippasi Month. Rudraksha Kavadi is rare
performance in this temple. Tens and thousands of devotees throng in the
hill temple on the above days. Annathanam is being fed on these occasions
through the temple trust. The important feature of this temple is,
Lord will remove the obstacles in the marriage, if devotees pray with whole
heatedly. Guru pooja of Sri-la-Sri Muthusamy siddhar is celebrated
on the previous day of Thirukarthigai, every year.
