Vishnu Durgai in outer praharam.
It was learned that Kodi Vinayagar is swayambhu, when it was tried to take out
for renovation even after digging 20 feet they could not find the end of the
base. Eranda Munivar in
meditating posture in the front mandapam. Shiva of this temple is shown as Kodi Vigneswara, Kodi Ammai, Kodi Murugan,
to Pathira Yogi Muni.

trees ( Fruit) are grown by the temple personnel. The sanctum is a little high. Stucco images in moolavar vimanam is of Gajabrushta shape.

The temple faces east with a 5-tier Rajagopuram. The Balipeedam Rishabam and Dwajasthambam are after the Rajagopuram. A mandapa with a second level 3-tier Rajagopuram is at the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum.
Guru Dakshinamurthy is ina separate temple.
Vinayagar is special in this temple, made of Chippi, Kilinjal, and sea foam.
Honey Abhishekam is performed once in a year on Vinayaka Chathurthi day. All the
honey will be absorbed in the idol itself.
Two Ambal temples. The
idols in the koshtam are damaged. Only thaila kappu is done for the Moolavar. Sri Guhambigai Ambal holding Sri Murugan in the hip idol made of wax is in a separate mandapam.

The temple is facing east without Rajagopuram and Dwajasthambam. Rishabam is facing the same direction (East) as moolavar to
threaten and chase Yamadharman .
There is no Navagraha sannidhi .
Moolavar is swayambhu. There
are two Durgai Amman. In
Artha mandapam lord Shiva in the form of Dakshinamurthy with a stick in his hands
to chase Emadharman. Brahma and Vishnu are on both sides.

LEGENDS
This temple celebrates Maha Shivaratri in a grand manner. This relates to the
story of a hunter who came to this place in search of a deer. Lord Shiva to
save the deer came in the form of a Tiger. On seeing the tiger the hunter
climbed up the tree and unknowingly plugged the leaves ( Vilvam ) and threw
on the tiger without sleep throughout out night. The leaves fell on the tiger/
Shiva, hence the hunter got a blessing from Lord Shiva. ( The stucco images are at the entrance).

The temple is small but maintained beautifully. The Kumbabishekam might have been conducted in recent years. Only Dakshinamurthy in koshtam Moolavar vimanam is higher than the entrance small Rajagopuram. There is a
scar on moolavar due to Arjuna’s arrow.

Thirumal, Brahma, Vishnu, Devars, and Vasistar worshiped Lord Shiva in this temple. Arjuna married Uloobi from Patala Loka after learning the bow and arrow technique. Tharukavanam (
Thirupparaithurai near Trichy ) Munivars had done Velvi, and the tiger came out and was
made to chase Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva killed Tiger and he used the leather for
wearing.

The temple faces east with a 5-tier Rajagopuram. Dwajasthambam, balipedam, and Rishabam are immediately after the Rajagopuram. This is one of the mada Koil built by Ko Chenkat Chozhan.

The sanctum sanctorum consists of sanctum, antarala, and artha mandapam. The material of the Lord Shiva Idol was not known. But a lot of holes made by bees are seen. The Moolavar will change his colour to 5 during the day, via, Thamiram, Light red, Molten gold, Navarathna green, and lastly, the colour will not be able to be predicted. Hence The lord is called Panchavarneswarar. ( During my darshan the color was golden color). Stucco /Suthai Sirpam of Lord Shiva and Sri Parvati’s marriage is seen at the back wall of moolavar.

Shiva gave Thiruvadi Deekshai in this temple for Appar. Hence Thiruvadi is kept on each devotee ( Like Sadari in Perumal temples ). Amar Neethi Nayanar attained mukti in this place.
Vayu and Aadhisheshan fought in this place. Thiruvarur moolavar was kept for 3 days in the temple and worshiped
before installation at Thiruvarur by Musukuntha Chakravarthy, which he got from
Indran.
The Moolavar Valam should be in the Somasundara method since it is
believed that Lord Shiva’s head and hair are at the back side of the moolavar.
Hence nobody should cross the back side of the moolavar.
The temple is under renovation and preparing for the
Kumbabishekam.
