HISTORY
AND INSCRIPTIONS
Based on the architecture of
this temple and compared to the Janamejaya Eswarar temple at Panambakkam, it is
believed that the temple the temple might have been constructed during the same
period or little latter, ie 11th to 12th Century. But there is no evidence in the form of
records or inscription found in the temple. As per hearsay, Lord Shiva was
called as Harihara Eswarar, Sri Agastheeswarar, Sri Valeeswarar, etc,.
It was told that Adhi
Kailasanathar banam and Rishabam was found from the temple tank. The same was buried
under a tree. This was lifted back and a new avudayar was made. This Adhi
Kailasanathar was installed in a shed on 04th October 2020. This
Adhi Kailasanathar Temple was existed as Soleeswarar temple in 1926 temple
census records. The Durga, Sastha, Balasubramaniar received from a Villager are
used as a Koshta murtis.
Further Maha Vishnu as Abhayaprada
Varadharaja Perumal with his consorts and Garudan was found abandoned in the
Village. The same was installed in a small shrine in font of the Adhi
Kailasanathar Sannidhi. Ambal Thiripura Sundari was installed on 11th
December 2020. Steps are taken to
establish Navagraha sannidhi on 27th December 2020 and the same was
installed on Shani pradosham day. Kala Bairavar was installed on 29th
May 2021.
After making
Pradosha murtis, Natarajar was made with the metals collected from the
Villagers on 27th October 2019.
The temple is
under the control of Tamil nadu HR & CE Department’s oru kala pooja scheme,
that too from recent years. Considering the present condition of the temple, efforts
are ON to reconstruct the sanctum sanctorum outer wall, Stucco Vimanam and
Rishaba mandapam. The temple is under Palalayam from 27th March 2022
and formal work was started with pooja and Homam. Thanks to Mr Saikumar for
taking steps for the above renovations.
