81/27. SRI KUTRAM PORUTHA
NATHAR TEMPLE.

THALAINAYAR - THIRUKARUPARIYALUR .
Now this place is called Melaikazhi, Thalainayar. This is the 81st Thevaram Paadal Petra Shiva
Sthalam and 27th Sthalam on the north side of the river Kaveri in
Chozha Nadu. Thirugnanasambandar has sung
hymns in praise of Shiva of this temple.

The temple faces east with a 3-tier Rajagopuram. balipeedam
and Rishabam are in front of the sanctum sanctorum. In koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy,
Brahma, and Durga Parameswari look beautiful. Sanctum sanctorum consists of a sanctum, antarala, and ardha mandapam. In the paraharam Vinayagar and Subramaniyar.
Similar to Sirkazhi Thoniappar and Sattainathar are in a malai Koil. The Umamaheswarar idol is to be watched.
Indiran throws Vajrayudham on Iraivan, and Shiva pardons him; hence, Lord Shiva is called Kutram Porutha Nathar. Since Suryan worshiped Shiva at
this temple, this place is called Thalainayar. Vasister, Anjaneyar,
Indiran, and Suryan worshiped Shiva at this temple.
A very old temple with many portions is damaged. Rajagopuram was badly
damaged.

Thalainayar is on the bus route from Vaitheeswaran Koil and
Thiruppanandal.

KUNDALESWARAR TEMPLE.
THIRUKURAKKAVAL
( THIRUKURAKKAKA).
This place is now
called Thirukurakkaval on the banks of the River Uppanar. This is the 82nd Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva
Sthalam and the 28th sthalam on the north of the River Kaveri in Chozha
Nadu. Appar has sung hymns in praise of the lord of this temple.

Consort : Sri Kundalambigai.

The
temple faces east with a small
entrance. Balipeedam and Rishabam are in front
of the sanctum sanctorum. The arch with stucco images is at the entrance of the Sanctum Sanctorum. In koshtam Dakshinamurthy and Durgai.
In the praharam, Vinayagar, Valli Deivanai Sametha Subramaniyar, Bhairavar, Chandran,
Hanuman, and Chandikeswarar. Painting of Hanuman worshiping Lord Shiva of this
temple.
ARCHITECTURE
The main temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, antarala, and ardha mandapam. A vesara vimanma is over the sanctum. Only painting of Dwarapalakas. Ambal is in a separate temple with the vesara Vimana.
LEGENDS
It is believed that Hanuman got back his tail after worshiping Lord Shiva at this temple. There is a separate sannadhi for Hanuman.
HOW TO
REACH :
On the
bus route, Vaitheeswaran Koil and Thiruppanandal get down at Ilanthoppu, and by
the side of the Hospital, the temple is 3 km (You have to make your own
arrangement, since there is no bus facility)
Town bus
from Mayiladuthurai to Pattavarthi, get down at Ilanthoppu, and
proceed as above.

83/29. SRI MANIKKA VANNAR TEMPLE.
THIRUVALAPUTHUR - THIRUVAZHLKOLIPUTHUR.
This place is now
called Thiruvalaputhur, Valoliputhur .
This is the 83rd Devaram Paadal Petra
Shiva Sthalam and 29th Sthalam on the north side of the river Kaveri in Chozha Nadu. Thirugnanasambandar and Appar have sung hymns in praise
of Lord Shiva of this temple.

Sri Manikka Vannar, Sri Rathna Pureeswarar
Consort : Sri Bramakundhalambal, Sri Vandamar Poonguzhali.

the important features of this temple are.......
The
temple faces east with an Entrance arch/base of the Rajagopuram. Rishabam and balipeedam are after the entrance, in Koshtam Durgai, Istaparameswar,
Narthana Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, and Brahma.
In the praharam Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Gajalakshmi, Saraswathi, Bhairavar, Chandran,
Suryan, Naalvar, and Natarajar Saba.
Ambal is
in a temple like a sannadhi built with stone, and there are no koshta Murtis in
the niches.
ARCHITECTURE
The main temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, antarala, and ardha mandapam. All the mandapams are of vavval nethi style. A 2-tier vesara vimana is over the sanctum. The sanctum was built with stone, and old stucco images were replaced during renovation.
LEGEND :
Arjunan,
Thirumal, and Vandu worshiped Shiva at this temple. Iraivan hid the sword of
Arjunan in the tree hole and gave it back; hence, this place is called Valkolipputhur. Thirumal worshiped the diamond Lingam of this temple.

This
temple is on the bus route from Vaitheeswaran Koil to Thiruppanandal, after
Ilanthoppu.
The Mayiladuthurai
to Manalmedu bus passes through this place.

84/30. SRI NEELAKANDESWARAR TEMPLE,
THIRUPAZHAMANNIPADIKARAI – (
Eluppaipattu / Iluppaipattu )
Now this
place is called Eluppaipattu on the banks of the river Kollidam. This is the 84th Thevara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 30th Sthalam on the north side of the river Kaveri in Chozha Nadu. Sundarar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this
temple.
Moolavar : Sri Neelakandeswarar, Sri Mutheeswarar,
Sri Parameswarar, Sri Mahatheeswarar,
Sri Padikarainathar.
Consort : Sri Amitha Karavalli, Sri
Mangalanayagi.
Some of
the important features of this temple are......
The
temple faces east with a 3-tier Rajagopuram. Vijaya Ganapathy is on the opposite side of the temple. Balipeedam
and Rishabam are after the Rajagopuram, in Koshtam, Narthana Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, and Ashtabhuja Durgai.
In the praharam Lingams, Valampuri Vinayagar (Two Vinayagar Sannadhis), Ambal, Subramaniyar, Mahalakshmi, and Sahadeva Lingam. A separate temple for Paadikaraai Nathar and Mangala Valli. Dhakshinamurthy sat on Rishaba below the Kallala tree. There is a through-hole from the left ear to the right ear.
Urchavar Natarajar
is of Dashabhuja Thandavamurthy and standing on a bull surrounded by Devas, is kept under custody. This will be taken only on Prathosam day. Sthala vruksham is Iluppai maram.
On the
floor level, Ambal Amuthakaravalli, and on the upper-level sannadhi
for Sri Mangala Nayagi,
ARCHITECTURE
The sanctum sanctorum was built like a mada Koil & Kara Koil on a raised platform, with sannidhis around. This temple is of Karakkoil-like chariots pulled by horses, one of the nine types of architecture. The basement is an 18-layered adhistanam called Pathmayapandham and Manjapathram.
Dakshinamurthy sat on Rishaba below the kallala tree. There is a through-hole from the left ear to the right ear.
LEGEND
While swallowing the
poison, Ma Parvati stopped by touching his throat in this Sthalam. Devars, Dharumar,
Neelakandeswarar, Arjunan, Draupadi, Padikarai Nathar, Nagulan,
Paramesar, and Mutheesar worshiped Shiva at this temple.
Valmpurivinayagar
was worshiped by Draupadi, Sri Parameswarar was worshiped by Nagulan, and Sri
Magudeeswarar was worshiped by Beeman. Sri
Padikarainathar was worshiped by Arjunan, Sri Neelakandeswarar was worshiped by
Dharman, Sri Siddha Muktheeswarar was worshiped by Sagathevan, and Sri Neelakandeswarar was worshiped by Dharman.
HOW TO REACH :
Vaitheeswaran Koil to Thiruppanandal Road Ilanthoppu, Valaputhur, Manal Medu,
after the cotton factory (Panchalai), Pappakudi road (turn right side), reach the temple.

SRI PASUPATHEESWARAR TEMPLE, PANDANALLUR - PANDHANAI
NALLUR.
Now this place is
called Pandanallur. This is the 89th Thevaram
Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and the 35th sthalam on the north
side of the river Kaveri in Chozha Nadu. Thirugnanasambandar and Appar have
sung hymns in praise of Lord Shiva of this temple.
Moolavar :
Sri Pasupatheeswarar.
Consort : Sri Venu Kujambigai, Sri Kaambana Tholiammai.

The
temple faces east with a 5-tier Rajagopuram, and a Vinayagar Sannidhi is on
the opposite side, in Koshtam Narthana Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy,
Sattainathar, Lingothbavar, Brahma, and Vishnu Durgai.
In
ardha mandapam, Sila roopam for Dwara Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Naalvar (Gnanasambandar
– little big), Sattainathar, Brahma &, and Vaali worship the lingam, Gajalakshmi,
Annapoorni, and Sri Aadhikesava Perumal with Padmavathi Thayar. Navagrahas
are in a single row. On the base/pedestal of Shiva and Parvathi urchavar is the Kalyana Sundarar's sthala purana.
ARCHITECTURE
The main temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, antarala, and artha mandapam. All the mandapams are of Vallavalnethi style. Moolavar is swayambhu made of Prithvi (Sand), hence covered always. No abhishekam is done. Mandapam was built around the sanctum.
HISTORY
Cannon Balls (Beeranki Gundu) are on display, which were found when the fort area was excavated.
LEGENDS
King Kambili’s eyesight was back after worshiping Lord Shiva, and the temple tank side was called Kambosa mannan thurai.
The story
of Kamadhenu as Umadevi got rid of Saba Vimosanam at this place. This happened when
playing with a ball made of 4 Vedas, which was given by Lord Shiva.
At the
entrance of Rajagopuram, on the right side of Kottai Muniyasamy, poojas are performed to get
relief from Black Magic /pilli soonyam and eval. How to reach:
