Sasivekalu Ganesha, Hampi Ruins, Hampi, Karnataka.

 19th June 2017.
On the second day of our Hampi ruins heritage Visit after breakfast started with SasiveKalu Ganesha. (the meaning of Sasikevalu in Kannada is a mustard seed) This is on the way from Hospet to Hampi road, very near to Hampi bus terminus.  As per the inscriptions, this monolithic four-armed 2.4-meter tall Ganesha was made by merchants from Andhra Pradesh during the 16th century from a single rock. Ganesha is sitting on a pedestal inside a mandapam. The plain pillars support a flat ceiling without any ornaments or superstructure.  The sculptor carved Ganesha in such a manner that he is sitting on the lap of his mother Parvati, touching his belly on the pedestal.
