The Visit to Ponmar Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi was a part of Thaiyur’s Shiva Temples and Amman Temple’s Visit scheduled on 21st July 2021. After Thaiyur, on the way to Velachery, we happened to see a signboard of Ponmar Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi, just after Sri Sakthipureeswarar Temple on Malai Street of Ponmar. More than 3 times visited this Shiva temple more than three times, and I didn’t know that there is a Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi just behind the Shiva temple. Also, I wasn’t aware of the purpose of a lone Shiva Linga installed on the same premises of the Shiva temple. The answers to my doubts are given in this article.

After the installation of Mahameru with Sri Chakra

The Ponmar Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhi Temple consists of an inner sanctum, a Sanctorum, and a mandapam. The Jeeva Samadhi Temple was built with stone. The walls are two layers of stone. Since the Jeeva Samadhi temple was kept closed for a long period, a lot of trees were grown, which destroyed the outer layer of the wall, and the Jeeva Samadhi Temple bears a dilapidated look.

A Square Avudayar with a shallow hole (குழி- பள்ளம்) is at the center, & a Komukha is installed in the sanctum Sanctorum. A Sri Chakra was installed in recent years.

It was said that Siddhar didn’t identify himself or his name. (as per Google map, somebody claims as Sivaranjani Siddar.. ? ). The Siddhar used to come in the dreams of the Devotees. His disciple’s Jeeva Samadhi is on the back side of the Shiva Temple on which a Shiva Linga was installed.

This Jeeva Samadhi temple was identified during the process of conducting Kumbhabhishekam to Sri Sakthipureeswarar Temple.  A Sivanadiyar called Eswaran of Thenkasi said that there must be a small mandapa on the northeast corner of the Shiva Temple. The mandapa will be in a dilapidated condition. Just clean the area and light up the Lamp. The rest will happen automatically.

It was told that those who are doing Dhyana/meditation at this temple get different experiences, and many miracles happen in their life. Also, it was said that the Siddhar has to call his Jeeva Samadhi Temple, and without his call, one cannot reach it.

Lingothbavar on an Avudayar, Nandhi, and Rudra Ganapathy will be installed in front of the Jeeva Samadhi Temple in  June 2021.
