Rengaswamy Jeeva Samadhi Temple / Sri-La_Sri Selva Rengaswamy Siddhar Jeeva Samadhi, ரெங்கசாமி ஜீவா சமாதி டெம்பிள், Appar Nagar, Tiruvottiyur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The visit to this Sri Rengaswamy Jeeva Samadhi Temple on the Ennore Express Road in Tiruvottiyur was a part of the “Hero Stones and Siddhars of Tiruvottiyur Visit”, on 11th September 2022.  This visit was mainly focused on the Siddhar Jeeva Samadhi Temples of Tiruvottiyur.

Most of the Siddhar Jeeva samadhis in Chennai belong to Siddhars who migrated from various parts of Tamil Nadu and other States, like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, etc,. The Siddhar Samadhis in and around Thiruvottiyur are closely linked with the 11th Century Pattinathar and 19th Century Vallalar alias Ramalinga Adigalar. Even though the Siddhars attained mukti, away from Tiruvottiyur, they were brought to Tiruvottiyur and laid in Samadhi, considering this as a holy place.

Siddhar   : Sri Selva Rengaswamy

HISTORY OF SRI LA SRI SELVA RENGASWAMY
The full details of this Siddhar are not known and it is believed that Sri-la-Sri Selva Renga Swamigal attained Jeeva Samadhi, about 100 years before. The Samadhi is inside a room facing east with a balipeedam and a Rishabam. The walls are adorned with flex banners of Siddhars like Paranjothi Baba, Alavayan Swamigal, Sadaiyamma, Pattinathar, Selva Renga Swamigal, Renga Swamigal Disciple Lakshmiamma, Padagacheri Ramalinga Swamigal, Arul Veli Siddhar.

This land belongs to Thiruvottiyur Nagaratchi and was given on rent or lease. The present structure was constructed by a Muslim, who took on the lease of this place doing auto component business, after knowing the mysterious power of Sri Selva Rana Swamy Siddhar.

For the past 5 to 6 years a devotee Kumaran and his family have taken care of this Jeeva Samadhi. Even though some miscreants gave trouble often to vacate this place, nothing serious things happened. Initially, Kumaran was a follower of Paranjothi Mahan.  A family living in this place will guide us to this Jeeva Samadhi.

In addition to Sri-la-Sri Selva Renga Swamigal Jeeva Samadhi, the lady who lives in the Samadhi temple guided me to another Samadhi in the same premises. The Samadhi may be of Sri Renga Swamigal Siddhar’s disciple Lakshmi Amma. The Details of this Jeeva Samadhi is not known.
