The visit
to this Sri Mugalieswarar temple at Mugalivakkam was a part of the “Gajaprishta
Vimana Temples visit” – on 30th April 2023. The temple premises
consist of A mariamman temple, A Shiva temple, and a Varadaraja Perumal Temple.

Some
of the salient features of this temple are…
The
temple faces east with balipeedam and Rishabam. Bala Vinayagar and
Balamurugan are at the entrance of mukha
mandapam. Moolavar is at an
elevated level. Dwarapalakas are at the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum. A small
Rishabam and a balipeedam are in front of the sanctum sanctorum. In koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy,
Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai.
In
praharam, Nalvar, 63var, Vinayagar, Saraswati, Lakshmi, Durgai, Sri Valli
Devasena Subramaniyar, Chandikeswarar, Palliyarai,
Natarajar , Kala bairavar, Chandran and Suriyan.
ARCHITECTURE
The
complete temple was constructed with bricks. The temple consists of sanctum
sanctorum, antarala and ardha mandapam. The Sanctum sanctorum is on a raised
upanam. The Adhisthanam is of pada bandha adhistanam with jagathy, threepatta
kumudam. The sanctum Sanctorum and vimanam were constructed in the Gajaprishta
style. The Vimanam is of 3 talas. Shiva with Parvati, Dakshinamurthy, Maha
Vishnu, and Brahma are in the Tala and Greeva koshtams.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
This
is not an ancient Gajaprishta Vimanam Temple. This temple was built in 2014
as Gajaprishta Vimanam temple and Kumbhabhishekam was conducted.
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart
from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on pradosham, Maha
shivaratri, Navaratri, Karthigai Deepam, etc.

The
temple will be kept open between 06.30 hrs to 11.30 hrs and 17.30 hrs to
20.30 hrs.
