The
visit to this Sri Vaalai Vembuli Amman Temple at Nolambur, a part of Ambattur
Industrial Estate was a part of “Lesser Known Vishnu, Shiva, Amman Temples of
Chennai Visit”, on 23rd October 2022. Most of the temples were
reconstructed during recent years and some retains their original structure.
All these temples have long history of Pallava, Chozha, Vijayanagars..

of the salient features of this temple are….
The
temple facing east with an trance arch on the north side. Amman is sitting on a pedestal / peedam with
Trishul on the right hand.
In
praharam, Nagars, Saptakannis, Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasea Subramaniyars, Kala Bairavar, Navagrahas,
etc,.
ARCHITECTURE
The
sanctum sanctorum is built on a raised level of about 3 feet. The temple
consists of sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam and a mukha mandapam. Stucco
images of Ammans Various form are on the parapet wall of the mandapam and
Temple.
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
The
original temple may be 150 to 200 years old and reconstructed completely with
bricks and cement concrete during recent years.
LEGENDS
The
Vembuli Amman is a Grama Devathai, Village Guarding Deity and a Nattar Deivam.
It is believed that Vembuli Amman protects the Village from evil forces
entering in to the Village. Hence the Amman will be in ferocious look, many
hands, like Chatur bhujam or ashta bhujam
( 4, 8 hands ), holding various weapons to destroy the evil forces. The
Evil forces may be in the form of sprit or deceases like smallpox, etc,.
POOJAS AND
CELEBRATIONS
Apart
from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Tuesdays, Fridays, Adi
moth Fridays along with Annual festival, Sankata hara Chaturthi, Vinayagar
Chaturthi, Skandar Sashti etc,.
This
year's Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar Thirukalyanam will be conducted on 31st
October 2022, with Seervarisai starts from Sri Vaikunta Perumal Temple of
Nolambur.

temple will be kept opened between 07.00 hrs to 10.30 hrs and 17.00 hrs to
20.00 hrs.
