The visit to Rock Arts at Poraiyar village in Kallakurichi District was part of the “Rock Arts of Nadu Naadu Visit in Viluppuram and Kallakurichi Districts”, organised by திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்ட வரலாற்று ஆய்வு நடுவம், on 17^th November 2024. Thanks to Mr. Gandhirajan, the Rock Art expert, who guided us to understand Rock Arts (தமிழ் மூலம் திரு காந்திராஜன் அவர்கள்).

கள்ளக்குறிச்சி மாவட்டம், பொறையார் கிராமத்தின் அம்மன் கோயிலில் இருந்து சுமார் 1 கிலோமீட்டர் தொலைவில் காட்டின் நடுவே பாறைக்குவியலில் இயற்கையாக அமைந்த குகைத்தளத்தின் சுவர் பகுதிபோன்ற பாறையில் இரண்டு மான் உருவங்கள் கோட்டோவியமாக செந்சாந்தால் வரையப்பட்டு இருக்கின்றது. இரண்டு மான்களில் ஒன்று மட்டும் முழு உருவத்துடனும், மற்றொன்று தலை மட்டுமே காணப்படுகின்றது. இரண்டு மான்களுக்கும் பின்பக்கம் ஆடு போன்று வளைந்த கொம்புகள் வரையப்பட்டு உள்ளது. கோட்டோவியம் தடிமனாக காணப்படுகின்றது.    

This rock painting is on a rocky hill, about a km from Poraiyar, Amman Temple. The Rock art consists of two Deer, drawn with red ochre. Of the two Deer, one is completely visible, and the other’s head is only visible. Both are drawn with thick lines.
