murti in a separate sannidhi. Devotees used to gather early morning on Saturdays
for darshan. The temple also has the sannadhi for Sri ANJANEYAR, Sri Ayyappan

and Sri Gnanambigai Samedha Vedapureeswarar sannadhis. The other sannadhis are

SRI
VAIRAVA ESWARAR TEMPLE
Then I went to Sri
Vairava Eswarar temple after Kakkan bridge on the way to Adambakkam Police
station. The moolavar is not a usual Shiva Lingam. Instead a Shiva’s moortham
with vel. The moolavar sannidhi’s top is open in side the mandapam with Nandi
in front. Sri Vallarasu Vinayagar sannidhi is out side the temple.
SRI
VARASIDDHI VINAYAGAR TEMPLE
My next visit was to
the temple Sri Varasiddhi Vinayagar temple opposite to Adambakkam Police
station in New colony. Sannadhi for Sri Balathandayuthapani, Sri Varasiddhi
Vinayagar and Sri Anjali Anjaneyar are in a same line facing east without any
gap. The temple also has a rajagopuram. Sri Dakshinamurthy, Vishnu and Durga are in koshtam of Sri Varasiddhi Vinayagar.

AVUDAI NAYAGI SAMEDHA SRI NANDHEESWARAR TEMPLE – ADAMBAKKAM.
My next target was
Sri Avudai Nayaki Sametha Sri Nandeeswarar Temple near to St Thomas mount
railway station. The temple has an entrance on south and east sides. This part of this post was written as a separate post. For more details please click this link.
Moolavar : Sri
Nandeeswarar
Consort : Sri Aavudai Nayagi
Some of the important details are …..
Sri
Birungi Munivar worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple and Iraivan gave
darshan in the form of Nandhi. Hence the place was called as
Birungi Hill latter it turned to Parangi malai during Britishers’ rule.
It is
believed that that the temple was constructed by the Chozha king “Aadhani” and
the place was called as Aadhani. Latter the name turned as Adambakkam.
The
moolavar is facing east and Ambal is facing south. Sri Narthana Vinayagar,
Dhakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu , Brahma and Durgai are in Koshtam.
The
temple also has sannadhi for Sri Sundara Vinayagar, Naagars, Sri Valli Devasena
Sri Subramaniar ( moolavar gopuram is of very old- made of stucco ) and Navagrahas.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It
is believed that the temple was constructed during 10th century
and thirupani was carried out during 1005 AD. The temple became fame
after Kanchi Sri Sankaracharya’s Visit.
As per
the epigraph available in the temple ( installed separately ), the inscription
were made during 12th century
by the king Kulothunga Chozha-III. The
inscription reveals the fact that, this temple has a
connection with Sri Aavidainayagi temple of
Thiruvotriyur. The inscription also reveals that a land was donated to Sri
Prabhahara Battar’s wife for raising the flowering plants for Thiruvotriyur
temple from this temple land.
From
the inscriptions available at Thiruvotriyur temple there was mention about this
temple also for flowers from Nandhavanam.

MAHAN THADIKARA
SWAMIGAL JEEVA SAMADHI
After darshan of Sri
Nandeeswarar, walked towards Guindy through MKN road which starts from St
Thomas mount Railway station sub-way. On seeing the board Thadikara Swamy Koil Street ( Ekambaram Dafedar
street), entered through, thinking that there must be some Shiva temple.
Suddenly came the idea of worshiping Sri Thadika Swamigal jeeva Samadhi ( Long
before I had seen the location on the google map ). When I inquired the
people guided me to Sri Thadikara Swamy Koil street where the jeeva samadhi is
located. Spent around 15 minutes on meditation and left for Guindy.
Thadikara Swamigal was from Sivakasi as Viswanathan and got enlighten at the age of 25 and attained jeeva samadhi at the
age of 75. He had two sons and both were expired. His wife lived at the age of 90.

Then I proceeded
towards Sri Mahan Saangu Siddha Shiva Linga Swamigal Jeeva Samadhi, which is off
MKN Road, opposite to Guindy Bus stop. On the way tried my luck for the
Darshan of Sri Veera Anjaneyar. To my disappointment the temple was closed, it
was around 12.00 Hrs when I reached.

SRI MAHAN
SAANGU SIDDHA SHIVALINGA NAYANAR JEEVA SAMADHI
The Samadhi usually
kept open. I visited few times before this visit, hence I do not find any
problem of locating the same. There are two more samadhis for his disciples
also on the both sides. It was believed that the burden will become half after
worshiping. It was also understood that the action of removing this jeeva
Samadhi was failed during Britishers rule. His teachings was “
Unnul uthamanai kaanum vazhi Saakaak kalvi”

SRI
MANGALAMBIGAI UDANURAI SRI PADALEESWARAR TEMPLE.
It was around 13.00
Hrs, I walked almost 7 Km from my home and got tired. My right leg started
paining. ( This is the longest 7 KM walk after my leg injury and ankle
dislocation ). Decided to drop the idea of walking further towards
Vadapalani. On the way to bus stand between Guindy Railway station and Race
course peeped in to Sri Mangalambigai udanurai Sri Paadaleeswarar temple, which
escaped from demolition due to metrorail construction. This was built by the
Bhairava Siddhar Sri Padakachery Ramalinga Swamigal, Whose sudhai sirpam is on
the top. This temple was constructed under his immediate supervision. He was
the instrumental for constructing the Rajagopuram for Kumbakonam Sri
Nageswara Swamy temple. His Jeeva Samadhi is at Thiruvotriyur and the details
were uploaded in one of my post.
