The
Visit to this Thiruvalishwarar Temple at Siruvanjur near Nattarasanpattu was a
part of Shiva and Vishnu temples Visit on east and west side of Grand Southern Trunk Road ( GST Road ) from Old Perungalathur to
Chettipunyam on 14th November 2021.

Some
of the salient features of this temple are….
The
temple is facing east with an entrance mottai gopuram. The temple tank is
in-front. Balipeedam and Rishabam are immediately after the entrance. There is no images in the Deva Koshtam and
Chandikeswarar sannidhi. Ambal sannidhi is facing south.
Vinayagars,
Ayyanar / sastha with Elephant are in the mukha mandapam. Lakshmi Narayanar and
Murugan are in the ardha mandapam.
ARCHITECTURE.
The
present temple is in dilapidated condition. The sanctum sanctorum is covered
with Tarpaulin to avoid rain water in to the sanctum Sanctorum. Ambal temple is
also in bad shape. The original temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam
and a maha mandapam. There is no Vimanam. A meta-colour sheet shed is installed
covering the maha mandapam and ardha mandapam, to avoid further damage.
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
There
is no inscriptions found to prove its antiquity. As per the Iconography and
temple architecture, the temple may be 200 to 300 years old.
LEGENDS
It
is believed that Vali worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple, hence Lord Shiva is
called as Thiruvalishwarar / Thiruvaleeswarar.
POOJAS AND
CELEBRATIONS
Oru
kala pooja is conducted and special Poojas are conducted on pradosham and Maha Shivaratri.
TEMPLE TIMINGS
Since
oru kala pooja is conducted, the closing opening of the temple is unpredicted.

The
temple at Siruvanjur is about 500 meters of human habitation / Village.
The
temple is 7 KM from Orathur, 11 KM from Padappai, 48 KM from Chennai.
Nearest
railway station is Tambaram.
