Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple / ஸ்ரீ பிரசன்ன வெங்கடேச பெருமாள் கோயில், சூலைமேடு, Thiruvenkatapuram, Choolaimedu, Chennai.

The visit to the Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal Temple at Choolaimedu was a part of the Shiva and Vishnu temples' visit at Nungambakkam and Choolaimedu.

Some of the salient features of this temple are...
The temple faces east with a 3-tier Rajagopuram. Maha Vishnu’s reclining posture is on the 1st tier of the Rajagopuram.  Balipeedam and Garudan are in front of the sanctum sanctorum.  In praharam Sri Vara siddhi Valampuri Vinayagar, Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar and Navagrahas.

ARCHITECTURE
The Maha Vishnu temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum, an ardha mandapam, and a Mukha Mandapam. The temple was built with bricks and cement. An ekathala Nagara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. Maha Vishnu’s Dashavatar/various avatar are on the top of the mukha mandapam. 
  

HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The original temple may belong to the 19th to 20th century (the 47th annual Pavithrotsavam was conducted  in 2012 ). Temple reconstruction work was started on 23rd April 2007 and completed, and Ashta bandhana maha Kumbabishekam was conducted on 23rd April 2008.  The renovation cost was donated by Individuals and the HR & CE Department. The Prasanna Venkatesa Perumal temple was done at Rs 23,50,000, donated by  L Kuberan Nayakar; the Subramaniyar temple at Rs 3,45,000, donated by Dr A Panneerselvam; and Vinayagar Temple for Rs 3,23, 000 donated by two persons  and Rs 4,00,000 received from the HR & CE Department.


POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from one kala regular pooja, special poojas are conducted on Vaikunta Ekadasi, Krishna Jayanthi, Hanuman Jayanthi, Rama Navami, Vinayagar Chaturthi, etc. The Annual Pavithrotsavam will be held in October

The temple will be kept open from 07.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs and from 17.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
The temple is at Thiruvenkatapuram, Choolaimedu, about 100 meters from Nelson Manickam Road.
The temple is about 550 meters from Nungambakkam Railway Station, 4.6 km from T Nagar Bus Depot, 5.6 km from Koyambedu, and 7 km from Chennai Central.
The nearest Railway station is Nungambakkam.
