This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was constructed adjacent to Sri Sarangapani Temple. This is the 28th Thirugnanasambandar’s
Devara Paadal Petra Shiva sthalam on the south side of river Kaveri.

The temple faces west with a kattai Rajagopuram
at the entrance and a second-level small Rajagopuram. Dwajasthambam, balipeedam, and Rishabam are in between the Katti Gopuram and the Second level small Rajagopuram. Moolavar is of swayambhu and is worshiped by the Soman- moon.
There is a small Siva sannidhi called Sri
Mallikeswarar temple. It was believed that Vishnu worshiped lord Shiva of this
temple. In koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy,
Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai.
