16th March,
2016.
After our darshan of Sri Paleeswarar, we decided to return back to Chennai. Instead of continuing further
we return back for about 3 KM and taken the route to Minjur through
Kattur. While crossing the place called Thathaimanji my friend stopped
near a Shiva temple found to be recently constructed. But when we went
inside the temple and found that temple was very old, maybe 300 to 400
years old, and reconstructed later keeping the mandapam old pillars.

Some of the important details of this
temple are……
The temple faces east with
an entrance arch on the south side. Balipeedam and Rishabam are in the outer prakaram. Moolavar
is small and looks beautiful.
Vinayagar,
Sri Valli Devasena Subramaniar, Navagrahas and Chandikeswarar sannadhis are
also in the outer prakaram.

The Gurukkal told us there was also an old
temple at Kattur on our way back home. On the way to Shiva temple, we
had the darshan of Sri Vainkuntavasa Perumal.
SRI VAIKUNDAVASA PERUMAL TEMPLE - KATTUR
Vaikundavasa Perumal temple faces west with a
Rajagopuram on the south side. Thayar Vaikundavalli is not in a separate
sannadhi but in the mandapam of the main sanctum. Garudalwar is in front of
moolavar. There are separate sannadhi for Ramar and Chakkarathalwar.
The Shiva temple temple is at the end of the street and it welcomed us with the Sharp Rajagopuram on the east side. We
could not obtain more information about the temple and the sanctum was closed,
keeping the Rajagopuram main gate open.
Moolavar : Sri Valeeswarar
Consort : Sri Thiripura Sundarai
Some of the important details are ….
In the outer prakaram sannadhi for Navagrahas,
Suryan, Hanuman or Vaali, Kalabhairava, balipeedam and Rishabam. In koshtam Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy,
Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai.
Ambal is facing south. We could not judge the
antiquity of the temple since the temple was completely reconstructed and
tiles were paved on the praharam floors.
