19th June 2017.
The second day of our Hampi ruins heritage
Visit after breakfast started with SasiveKalu Ganesha. ( the meaning of
Sasikevalu in kannada is mustard seed ) This is on the way to Hospet to Hampi
road, very near to Hampi bus terminus. As per the inscriptions this
monolithic four armed 2.4 meters tall Ganesha was made by the
merchants from Andhra Pradesh during 16th century from a
single rock. Ganesha is sitting on a pedestal inside a mandapam. The
plain pillars supports a flat ceiling without any ornaments and super
structure. The sculptor carved Ganesha in such a manner that he is
sitting on the lap of his mother Parvati, touching belly on the pedestal.
