Uddana Virabhadra Temple / Uddana Veerabhadra Temple, Hampi Ruins, Hampi, Karnataka.

This temple is very close to monolithic Lakshmi Narasimhar temple facing north. This is one of the living temples in Hampi Ruins, dedicated to Sri Virabhadra a form of Lord Shiva also called as Muddanna or Mudu Viranna by the locals. Moolavar is called as Uddana Veerabhadra standing 3.6 metes tall with 4 arms. Veerabhadra holds arrow, Khadga ( dragger ), bow and shield. The small image of Daksha with goat’s head stands on the right side of Sri Veerabhadra. As per the inscriptions the moolavar Mudu Viranna was installed by Dalavayi Jangamayya in 1545 CE in the reign of Tuluva Dynasty.


The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum, an antarala and  a sabha mantapa. The Nandhi is installed in antarala and also Uma maheswari, Ganesha and a unique lingam called Sarvanga Linga.

In addition to this there are three hero stones on front of Deppa sthambam, of these two nos are in worship.
