This 14th to
15th century,
Vijayanagara Period dedicated to Hazaara Ramachandra is on the western
entrance of the Royal Enclosure. ( Harihara Palace ). The name Hazaara means
Courtyard or Thousand. Since the temple is very close to the Royal enclosure,
has numerous depiction of relief sculptures of Rama and epic Ramayan. The
complete Ramayana and mahabharata epics are chiseled on the walls of
inner prakaram. In addition to this Ramayana epic related reliefs found on the
walls of sanctum walls. The reliefs includes Buddha and a Jain meditating monk/
Therthangarar.
The temple is facing east with three entrances
consists of sanctum, antarala, ardha mandapa and maha mandapa.
The four chitra kanda pillars in the hall are
polished black stone with meticulous carvings. There is a separate
shrine for Thayar and a pillard mandapa on the north east. The temple had a
separate path way for the royalties visit. The outer side of of the walls has
the relief sculptures of elephants.
