… a continuation post to Saraswati Temple
19th June 2017.
This octagonal water pavilion is a stone's throw away from the Saraswati temple. This might have been constructed
during the 16th century. There is an octagonal stage at the center
surrounded by an open mandapam with very simple pillars. The roof and sides are
plastered with lime mortar, and remains of intricate carvings can be seen
on the ceiling. There are holes to get water from outside to this pavilion at
each corner of the octagon.
It was around 14.00 hrs when we completed this
Octagonal water pavilion visit. Instead of going all the way to Hampi, we
decided to bring lunch to this pavilion.
