Sri Devi Kadal Muthu Karumariamman Temple, on the banks of river Cooum, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

This is the last temple on the banks of the  holy river Cooum, which Joins with bay of Bengal. The main deity is Sri Devi Kadal Muthu Karumari Amman Temple facing east with a soolam and her vahana simham.   The Amman and Kali are made of stucco. The sub sannadhis are a Shiva temple and Navagrahas. In Shiva’s sannathi  stucco images of Shiva with his family Parvati, Vinayagar & Murugan  and Rishabam.

As per the lady who does the pooja,  Amman is called as kadal Muthu Karumariamman, since She faces  the sea.  


HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The temple was constructed by  the late R. Ramakannu, of South Arcot District, Kallakurichi, Karadichithur Village,  about 53 years before ( 1964 AD )  and the temple, is being taken care of  his third generation relatives.

POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Aadi month annual festival is being celebrated for the past 53 years consecutively with out break.  The other important celebrations are Mayanakollai and Mahashivaratri. The People from the Army quarters and nearby kuppam  are the regular visitors.

POOJA TIMINGS:
Since one lady takes care of the temple,  the pooja and opening times are depends on her convenience.

R. Ramakannu, of South Arcot District, Kallakurichi, Karadichithur Village, had constructed the compound wall through his own fund in the year 1983.
