The
place Ingur was called Karjiravanam in Purana, Inthur, Inthaiyur,
and was corrupted to the present name of Ingur. As per the legend, while Devas
were doing thabas, the Asuras came and gave trouble. To their pray, Lord Shiva
saved the Devas from the Asuras. Hence, people with
troubles/problems used to pray to lord Shiva and get relief.
