One of
my friend told me that he had seen a Pidari statue ( Kali Statue ) kept in a
shed at Pidariyur near Perundurai on the way to Chennimalai. After visiting the
Amman and Shiva Temple at Ingur, thought of seeing this Paidari statue. The
Villagers could not help to locate instead they guided me to this temple, which
is about 2 KM off main road. To my disappointment, this was an Amman Temple and
not the Pidari or Kali Temple.
The
presiding deity : Sri Thirupirati Amman.
Some
of the important features of this temple are….
The
temple is facing north with a deepasthambham in front. There is an entrance arch with Amman’s
stucco image. Vinayagar sannidhi is in the artha mandapam. The sanctum is in
elevated level. 2 Two tier Gopura is above the sanctum. The sanctum was built with padabandha adhisthana.
In the
outer prakaram sannadhi for Pongi Amman and Veeramathi Amman facing north
direction. Stucco horses are on the both side of the mukha mandapam.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
This
temple has a close connection with Ingur. The Ingur Village Enjankoota Gounders, a sub
sect of Gounder community donated Gold, 20000 acres of land and built this
temple. This was engraved in a copper plate and the photo copy is hanging on
the mandapam wall. The Copper plate starts with Sun and Moon with Trident ( Three soolam ) on the top. ( which signifies that this donation should be continued till the Sun and Moon exists.
TEMPLE TIMINGS:
The
temple will be kept opened between 07.00 hrs to 19.00 hrs.
HOW TO REACH:
The Village Mukasipidariyur is about 10.5 KM from Perundurai on
Perundurai to Chennimalai bus route and the temple is about 2 KM off main road.
The nearest Railway station is Ingur, where the local trains will
stop and about 5.5 KM. Erode railway station is about 31KM.
