The
Visit to this Rayagopura, one of the Tourist spot of Melkote was a part of

This
Rayagopura, traditionally known as mahadvara or Gopalarayana Mahadvara,
situated on the southern part of Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple, is an important
structure. It is an incomplete structure with basement only, four free standing
pillars, with attractive carvings of female figures and scroll bands are
noticeable. This Mahadvara is said to have been built by dalapathi Gopalaraya
of Ramadevaraya, the second son of Srirangaraya, a representative of
Vijayanagara empire during 16th century. If completed this would have been a
majestic entrance with a tall gopura.

monument of about 500 Meters from Cheluvanarayana Temple, 1 KM from Yoga
Narasimha temple Melkote, 18 KM from Thondanoor, 51 KM from Mysore and 136 KM from Bangalore.
