After Visiting Dattatreya Temple at Baby Nagar,
came to this Shiva Vishnu Temple near Vijayanagar, Velachery. This Shiva
Vishnu Temples are built to show the unity of Saivam and Vaishnavam of this
residential Colony.

Some of the salient features of these temples are…
Both temples are facing east in line with separate
entrance arches. Stucco image of Kothandaramar with Sita and Shiva with Parvati
are on the top of the arches and mukha mandapam.

Balipeedam and Rishabam are in front of sanctum
sanctorum. Dwarapalakas, Vinayagar and BalaMurugan are on the both sides of

and Durgai.
In praharam Chandikeswarar, Ambal Meenakshi (
Meenakshi is in standing posture facing South with with abhaya varada hastam ),
Valampuri Vinayagar, Bairavar, Navagrahas and Ayyappan.

In Kothanda Ramar Sannidhi, Ramar is with Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman. Dwarapalakas are at the entrance of sanctum sanctorum. In koshtam Dhanvantri.

ARCHITECTURE
Both temples are built with similar architecture
with brick and cement concrete. The
sanctum sanctorum was constructed on a raised upanam and pada bandha
adhistanam. A two tala vesara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. Shiva,
Dakshinamurthy, Maha Vishnu and Brahma are in the tala and greeva koshtams.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
This Shiva Vishnu
temple is about 30 years old after the formation of this residential
colony, Karumariamman Nagar.

Apart from Regular poojas, special poojas are
conducted on pradosham, Maha Shivaratri, Vinayagar Chaturthi, Navaratri, Hanuman
Jayanthi, Rama Navami, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Vedanta Desika Utsavam, Krishna Jayanthi, etc,.
