This
visit to Sri Kuzhandaivel Swamigal and his disciple Sanyasi Subedar Swamigal
Jeeva Samadhi Temples are part of “Siddhar’s Jeeva Samadhis and Vinayagar
Temples Visit” in Alandur, and St Thomas Mount areas, on 10th August
2024.
This
Siddhar Kuzhandaivel Swamaigal is also known as Kuzhandaivel Paradesi Swamigal. He was the
disciple of Velachery Chidambaram Periya Swamigal. The inscription records that
Velachery Chidambaram Swamigal’s disciple Thiruvotriyur Kuzhandaivel Swamigal. The Life History of Kuzhandaivel Swamigal, like, from where
he came to this place, how he became a Siddhar, and what miracles he did are not
known. But as per the experts, his teachings were – mounama iru- மௌனமாக இரு – Be silent. His disciple
Anjaneyalu alias Sanyasi Subedar Swamigal’s Jeeva Samadhi is on the north side
of Kuzhandaivel Swamigal Jeeva Samadhi.
He
attained Jeeva Samadhi on 22nd December 1911 ( Virothikiruthu,
Margazhi month 7th day 3.30 hrs early morning ). A
temple was built later by his devotees and the temple was destroyed without
maintenance. The locals claim that the Gopuram was visible from Kathipara
Junction when the temple was in good condition. In the meantime, it was told
that his grandsons tried to sell the land belonging to this Samadhi temple, and
construction of Schools, which did not materialize.
Brick
pedestals were constructed and an image was installed facing west on one Chitra
Pournami Day ie 3rd May 2015. A Shiva Lingam was installed on his
disciple’s Samadhi. A meta-colour Sheet shed was provided above the Jeeva
Samadhi and arrangements are made for daily poojas by his Devotees.
HOW TO REACH
From Guindy, on MKN Road, turn right at Sri Periyapalayathamman
Temple and the Jeeva Samadhi Temple is about 100 meters.
The Jeeva Samadhi temple is about 1.6 KM from Guindy Railway Station,
2.7 KM from Alandur Metro Station, and 15.3 KM from Chennai Central Station.
