28, January 2013
After completion of my Official work at
Thirukadaiyur on Friday 25-01-2013, thought of spending Saturday and Sunday (26-01-2013 & 27-01-2013) to visit Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalangal from
Nagapattinam. I had prepared already the list of temples to be visited from
Nagapattinam and Thiruvarur.
26-01-2013. SATURDAY. DAY -1.
Early morning, it was too dark when I started my
journey from Thirukadaiyur to Nagapattinam. When I reached NAGAPATTINAM,
it was around 07.30 Hrs the temple was just opened for darshan. After Dharshan
proceeded to SIKKAL. In Sikkal I expected a lot of crowd in Sikkal
Singaravelan sannadhi, since one day was left for Thaipoosam function. The
crowd was thinner than I expected. Had a good darshan and reached Kizhvelur which
is on the way to Thiruvarur. From there I had been to THEVUR. This
is on the way to Thiruthuraipoondi from Kizhvelur.
My next planned temple visit was to Koil Kannapur.
When I inquired, the temple people suggested me go to VALIVALAM and
from there, since it is easy to go to Koil Kannapur. After completing my darshan at
Valivalam, understood that Kanrappur is about 4 KM from Valivalam and there is
no proper bus facility to that village. On seeing the disappointment on my face,
Temple Gurukkal advised me to take his cycle and leave the same after darshan.
It was around 14.30 Hrs when I reached Koil Kannapur and the temple was
closed. The Meikavalar on OFF duty ( 15 Days on rotation between two peoples )
advised me to go to ThiruNattiyathankudi first and come back to Koil Kannapur. It
was about a 15 KM Journey by cycle and I found it very tough. The bag on my back was
also pulling me down. The loneliness also discouraged me a lot. Finally, I
knocked on the door of the THIRUNATTIYATHANKUDI Temple. The
Gurukkal’s son was kind enough to open the door for me. After darshan returned
back once again to Koil Kannapur and had the darshan.
After returning the bicycle try to reach Thirukkarayil via
Kachanam before 17.30 Hrs to see the abhishekam for Maragatha lingam. It was
too late when I reached. Had the darshan of Sayaratchai and Artha Jama pooja.
Closed my day’s darshan and reached Thiruvarur for the night stay.
27-01-2013. SUNDAY. DAY – 2.
As per my schedule, there are two temples left out.
Unfortunately, both are in opposite directions of Thiruvarur. If I left Thirupalli Mukkudal I have spent one more day or I have to make one more
visit to cover the place. The previous night itself collected the bus availability to PEAREYIL and
Thirupalli Mukkudal. It was too early when I reached PEAREYIL and waited
for the temple to open. When I contacted Gurukkal over his mobile, he told me that
he would come only by 11.00 Hrs and also he suggested me have the darshan
with the help of a maligai shop owner, who has the gate keys. Had the darshan
through the grill from Maha Mandapam. Returned to Thiruvarur by motorcycle (in
pillion) and bus.
Then I proceeded to THIRUPALLI MUKKUDAL by
Minibus. Walked 2 KM from the main road and reached the temple.
Fortunately, the Temple was open and Gurukkal was present. Had the
darshan and walked once again to the main road.
It was around 11.30 Hrs when I reached Thiruvarur.
Calculated in mind for the next temple’s visit considering the chance of
getting a bus to Chennai in the evening. (Due to three three-day holidays there was a heavy rush to Chennai from all the places. It was noticed that People are
ready to travel by standing from Thiruvarur to Mayiladuthurai and from
Mayiladuthurai to Vadalur). Decided to return back to Chennai and boarded a
bus which started at 12.15 Hrs and reached Chennai around 22.00 Hrs. We lost about 2 hours at Vadalur due to a traffic jam. (Heavy rush as expected
at Vadalur Thaipoosam and Jyothi darshan).
Thanks to Lord Shiva for his Darshan in all the
temples and the Gurukkal & Meikavalars for helping me with the
darshan.
