During my heritage visit along with M/s
Vijayakumar, Ananda kumar, Gireesh and Tamilarasi of Tamilnadu Heritage Forum from
Coimbatore to Pollachi to see temples
and historically important places, on the way Mr Vijayakumar had shown number of Menhirs, Hero stones, sati stones, cairn
circles etc. We do not know, whether they are documented or really what they
are. I had written the details what we assumed.
We may be wrong too. We request the historians
and archaeologists, may throw some light
on this, really what they are.
SATI STONES.
We had seen such sati stones in three places one at Vadasithur, two numbers at Devanampalayam and one at Kappalangarai. We do not know much details about it and I had written what I assumed.
This sati stone is on the way between Vadasithur and Panapatti Village near Pollachi. As per the local people this was found on the banks of the branch river of Noyyal, which feeds water to Kothavadi pond. People call this as Mathurai Veeran and the ladies are Vellaiyammal and Pommi. As per the hair style this seems to be of Nayak Period.
This Sati stone is in front of Sri Parvathi Sametha Sri Paramasivan temple at Kappalangkarai. May belongs to Nayak Period with reference to the hair style.

TUBS CHISELED OUT OF STONE TO FEED WATER TO CATTLE.
We had seen two such tubs at KATTAMPATTI. We could not see much
details, since there were kept in side fence. There is a Perumal temple in
dilapidated condition but still the Perumal is being worshiped by the locals.

THE
MILE STONES ( மைல்
This
mile stone is about 6 miles away from Coimbatore on the Pothanur to Coimbatore.
The letters are engraved on the stone. After that a few KM away, we came
across another mile stone in which many lines are engraved. We could not figure
it since the stone was painted many times and not legible to read.
