Visit
to this temple was a part of “Chozha period temples Visit” in Karnataka on 22nd
June 2019. After Sri Arkeshwara Shiva temple’s Visit, our next visit was to this Vishnu temple
in the same village.

Some of the salient features of this temple are….
The
temple is facing east with a Balipeedam.
There is entrance arch or Rajagopuram. The sanctum sanctorum consists of
sanctum antarala, ardha mandapa and maha mandapa. In sanctum moolavar Sri Varadharaja
Perumal is in standing posture. Urchavars, Nammalwar and Ramanujar are in
ardha mandapa. Vishvaksenar and Hanuman and Parthasarathy are in Mahamandapa.
Thayar Sri Perun Deviyar is in a separate sannadhi facing east.
The sanctum is on a simple padabandha adhisthana with Jagathy, tripatta kumudam. The prastaram is kapotha with nasis. The sanctum do not have Vimana.
In
koshta Narasimhar and Vishnu. A land Donation pillar is standing in the
Nandhavanam along with Nagas.
HISTORY:
This 12th to 13th Century temple belongs to Chozha period built along with Sri Arkeshwara Shiva temple in the same Village. Latter mandapams are added during Vijayanagara period. Due to white wash on the adhisthana we could not find any inscriptions.

The
temple will be kept opened between 07.00 hrs to 11.00 hrs and 17.00 hrs to
19.00 hrs.
HOW TO REACH:
The
Village Honganoor is about 20 KM from Chamarajanagar, 175 KM from Bengaluru / Bangalore and
78 KM from Mysuru / Mysore.
Nearest
Railway station is Chamarajanagar.
