The visit to this
Rudra koteeswarar and Pasupatheeswarar Temple was a part of 2020 Maha Shivaratri
Temples Visit, on 21st February 2020. After Enathur Sri ThanThondreeswarar
Temple’s Visit our next destination was to this temple at Konerikuppam.

Some of the Salient
features of this temple are.....
The temple is facing
east with an entrance arch from South. A Stucco image of Shiva and Parvati as
Rishabaroodar. Balipeedam and Nandhi are in the mukha mandapam. Moolavar is the
sanctum is with nagabaranam. There is no images in the koshtam. In the
prakaram Pasupatheeswarar ( Looks Cute with alankaram ), Vinayagar, Murugan, Chandikeswarar and Vinayagar with Nagars under a peepal tree. There is a Donor
with Anjali hastam bas-relief panel is on the wall, which may belongs to
Vijayanagara Nayaka period.
ARCHITECTURE
The Temple complex
consists of Sanctum Sanctorum, artha mandapam and open mukha mandapam. A Vesara
Vimana is on the sanctum sanctorum. The Vinayagar and Chandikeswarar looks very
Old. It was told that the temple belongs to Pallava period and reconstructed
during Vijayanagara period. Renovation was carried out through public
participation and Kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 07th June 2015.
LEGEND:
As per the legend
kodi Rudras ( one crore ) worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple. Rudras are the followers of Lord Shiva. And
Rudra is an another form of Lord Shiva
( anger ). In Vamana purana Rudras are mentioned as the sons of Kashyapa and Aditi.

Since the temple is
located in a remote place and oru kaala pooja is conducted, the opening and
closing is unpredictable.
