The
Visit to this Swarna Kala Bhairavar temple was a part of visit to the Temples
and heritage sites around Kanchipuram, scheduled on 10th July 2021.
It was not planned to Visit this temple earlier and the same was combined with
the Ayyangarkulam Nadavavi and Thirupanangadu Sri Thalapureeswarar Temple.

of the salient features of this temple are…
The
temple is facing South with a recently built 5 Tier Rajagopuram. A Kanthu is in
the asbestos sheet mandapam after the rajagopuram. In artha mandapam Vahanas Dog,
Simham, Elephant, Horse, Nandi, Peacock and Garuda and balipeedam. In sanctum
Bhairavar is with his consort. Vinayagar and Murugan are in the Prakaram.

& Chandaka ( Lakshmi ), Sri Bhishana Bhairava & Chamundi, Kala
Bhairavar with Indrani, Unmatha Bhairavar & Sri Varahi, Krothana Bhairavar
& Vaishnavi, Sri Sanda Bhairavar & Kaumari, Guru Bhairavar &
Maheswari, Asitanga Bhairava & Brahmi, Swarna akarshana Bhairavar and Adhi
Sankarar are around the Parapat wall of
the sanctum sanctorum.
ARCHITECTURE
The
temple complex consists of Sanctum Sanctorum, Antarala and artha mandapam. The
5 tier Rajagopuram was built during recent years. A two tier vesara Vimana is
above sanctum sanctorum. Stucco images
of Bhairavars are in the Greevam, on the eight directions.
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
It
is believed that the temple is more than 600 years old, built during 14th
to 15th Century. The temple
was reconstructed during Vijayanagara period. It is also believed that Moolavar
was installed by Adi Sankarar.
The
front 5 Tier Rajagopuram was built at a cost of 15.1 lakhs and the amount was
shared by 8 Villages and Maha kumbabishekam was conducted on15th Dec 2019.
LEGEND
It
was learnt that Bhairavas ( Dogs ) will enter in to the sanctum and comes out
as soon as the sanctum is opened.
During
ancient times the Buddhist Kings converted the Thondai mandalam,
Thondakarunyam forests in to a
habitation place and ruled. They established School in this place and Students
from North India also came for study. During 3rd Century CE,
HeemaSeethana King period, the Jain scholar Asulangar called the Buddhist and
won over the Debate. The Buddhist
were chased out of the Kingdom. The Jains
started Jain Schools. During this period this place was called as
“Aravazhithangi”. After Pallavas and Chozhas came to power they gave importance
to Saivite temples
About
600 years before ie in 14th Century, a King called Veera Veera Sambuvarayar, built a Fort in this area and ruled. The Yadavaraya who came
from North fought with Veera Veera Sambuvarayar. He was worried about the diminishing of his
soldiers on the first day. In the Night Kala Bhairava came in his dream and
told that he will stand by his side to win over the war. Next day he won over
the Yadavaraya. Since Bhairava helped to win over the war and saved his
warriors, he named this place as “Azhipadaithanki”. He also built a temple for Kala Bhairavar. This sthala Purana is
also referred in Thiruvothur Sthala Purana.
It
is believed that, one can get relieved from Shani dosha, debt, Black magic / Billy Sunyam, deceases caused
through Karmas, to get relieved ashta poverty and increase wealth, to win the
court cases, to stay gold, to get rid of jealous, to get rid of the obstacles
caused by the enemies, by worshiping Sri
Swarna kala Bhairavar. This temple is believed to be equivalent to Kasi.

Apart
from regular poojas special poojas are conducted on Sundays and Theipirai
Ashtami days. The Temple functions are shared by the Villages around

From
Monday to Saturday, the temple will be kept opened between 08.00 hrs to 12 hrs
and 16.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs.
On
Sundays from 08.00 hrs to 14.00 and 16.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs.
Pooja
will be conducted on Theipirai Ashtami days between 12.00 hrs to 13.30 hrs and
temple will be kept opened between 08.00 hrs to 21.00 hrs.
