The
visit to this Sri Ashta ( Ishta) Siddhi Lingeswarar Temple Temple at Perambakkam,
was a part of the “Ashta Siddhi Temples”, visit, located between Kosasthalaiyar and
Koovam rivers, on the north side of Perambakkam. Apart from Shiva temples, on
the way visited Perumal temples also.

Some of the salient features of this temple are...
The temple faces east with a gate. An entrance
gate with an arch is on the south side. Stucco image of Shiva, Pavati ( Murugan is
seated on Parvati’s lap ), and Vinayagar in a seated posture on the entrance arch. Balipeedam and Rishabam are in the Mukha
mandapam. Moolavar in the sanctum seems to be old. Durgai is only in the
koshtam.

Subramaniar, Ambal facing South, Bairavar and Navagrahas.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of Sanctum sanctorum and a
mukha mandapam. A nagara Vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum. Maha nasis are on the 4 cardinal directions of
sigaram. There are no images in the Greeva koshtam also.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It
is believed that the original temple was built during the Pallava period and later
received contributions from Chozhas. The temple reconstruction was completed and
paintings were also done. The temple is waiting for Maha Kumbhabhishekam.
It was told that the kalasam on the Vimanam would
be stolen after installation, every time after installation.

This is one of the Ashta Siddhi Shiva
temples ( 8 Shiva Temple ) located between Koovam and Kosasthalaiyar Rivers, on the north side of Perambakkam in
Tiruvallur District. It is believed that the Sage Agathiyar installed these 8
Shiva Lingas, worshiped and obtained Ashta Siddhis. Each one of the Shiva

With this siddhi, one can obtain the
knowledge of creativity and become like Shri Shiva, who is above all of this
prapancham / Universe. By worshiping Shri Ishta Siddhi Lingeswarar of this
temple at Chitrambakkam, one can obtain the siddhi of Eesathuvam.
It is believed that worshiping Lord Shiva on 3
consecutive 3 Mondays will get 16 Mangala / auspicious things in life.

The temple
is yet to be consecrated, so no celebrations are conducted in this temple.
