HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
It is believed that the original temple was built during the Pallava period and later received contributions from Chozhas. The temple was completely reconstructed in recent years and maha kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 27th June 1997, along with Kariyamanicka Perumal temple.

As per 11th-century inscriptions, Saptamatrikas temple existed in the same place. This Shiva Temple is located on the Southwest corner ie Eesanya moola – of the Village.

The 11th-century inscription records the names of Unamili Pandithan of Kaushika Gotra, Kailasa Pandithan, and Sivalikanantha Pandithan of Athreya Gotra.

It was told that there was an inscription on the base of the Vinayagar. Since the same was installed couldn’t see that.

Vimanam with Parivara sannidhis was built and Jeernortharana Ashta Bandana maha kumbhabhishekam was conducted on 27th June 1997, with the blessings of Paramahamsethyathi Srirangam Srimath Andavan Srirangam Ramanuja Mahadesikan. This was conducted through Karumanika Perumal Trust.

LEGENDS
This is one of the Ashta Siddhi Shiva temples ( 8 Shiva Temple ) located between Koovam and Kosasthalaiyar rivers, on the north side of Perambakkam in Tiruvallur District. It is believed that the Sage Agasthiya installed these 8 Shiva Lingas, worshiped and obtained Ashta Siddhis. Each Shiva temple is associated with one of the Ashta Siddhis. The details of the Karima Siddhi from Srimad Bhagavatam are...

Karima -

With this siddhi, one can increase the weight of the body to any extent. By worshiping Sri Vasishteswarar of this temple at Satharai, one can obtain the siddhi of Karima.

It is further believed that the square avudayar might have been installed by some rishis maybe Vashishters and also worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple, hence Lord Shiva is called Vashishtswarar.

During reconstruction, a new Ambal idol was made and the renovation works were moved to a snail space. In the meantime, the original Ambal idol was unearthed on the same site. Kumbhabhishekam couldn’t be carried out due to many reasons. Ambal came in the dream of one organizer and asked to install both idols. Later both were installed as per Ambal’s instruction and kumbhabhishekam was conducted.
