LEGENDS
This is one of the Ashta Siddhi Shiva
temples ( 8 Shiva Temple ) located between Koovam and Kosasthalaiyar rivers, on the north side of Perambakkam in
Tiruvallur District. It is believed that the Sage Agasthiya installed these 8
Shiva Lingas, worshiped and obtained ashta siddhis. Each Shiva temple is
associated with one of the Ashta siddhis. The details of the Karima Siddhi from
Srimad Bhagavatam are...
Karima -
With this siddhi, one can increase the
weight of the body to any extend. By worshiping Sri Vasishteswarar of this
temple at Satharai, one can obtain the siddhi of Karima.
It
is further believed that the square avudayar
might have been installed by some rishis may be Vashishter and also worshiped Lord Shiva of this temple, hence Lord Shiva is called as Vashishtswarar.
During
reconstruction, a new Ambal idol was made and the renovation works are moved in
a snail space. In the mean time the original Ambal idol was unearthed on the
same site. Kumbhabhishekam couldn’t be carried out due to many reasons. Ambal
came in the dream of one organizer and asked to install both idols. Latter both
are installed as-per Ambal’s instruction and kumbhabhishekam was
conducted.
