LEGENDS
Lord
Shiva gave Thirumana kola darshan to Agasthiyar. Lord Shiva also gave moksham
to Nandhi bhagavan.
There
was a story for the construction of Rajagopuram. When they tried to construct
the Rajagopuram and do the Kumbabishekam, faced lot of problems and work was
moving in a snail space. After seeing prasannam they came to know that the
delay was due to neglect of Ganapathy temple in front of Rajagopuram. Kumbhabhishekam
was performed to Rajaganapathy, then they could be able to construct the
Rajagopuram with out any hurdle.
There
is a saying about Shiva of this temple as Aadiyathu Aalangattil, Amarnthathu
Thiruvuralil and Mananthathu Manavuril. ( ஆடியது ஆலங்காட்டில், அமர்ந்தது திருவூரலில், மணந்தது மணவூரில் ).
It is believed that Shri Shiva married Parvati in this place Manavur, hence
Stucco images of Kalyana kolam with Devas are on the top of maha mandapam
entrance.
