During
our visit to Menhirs and Hero Stones in
Kongu .. The Land Of Menhir… Came across this Shiva temple in a Village called
Injampalli. A Shiva and a Vishnu temples are in the middle
of the Village. In front of these temples, had seen Nayakas period stone statues a Vinayagar, Nandhi, a dismantled Shiva Linga with
avudayar, Devotees in worshiping posture
and a Nagar are found dumped by the side of a building. Both the
temple are painted recently. The main attraction of this temple is the Chozha period Jyeshta Devi / Thavvai.
Moolavar : Sri Chozheeswarar
Consort : Sri Thiripura Sundari.
Some
of the important details are…
The
temple is facing east with out any
Rajagopuram and entrance arch. A balipeedam and Nandhi are in front. The
sanctum sanctorum consists of a Sanctum, antarala and artha mandapam. Ambal sannidhi is facing south in the artha mandapam.
In koshtam, Vinayagar, Dakshinamurthy, Lingothbavar, Brahma and Durgai. Koshta
devdas are not in the niches , but built separately at a latter period.
In
the outer prakaram sannadhi for Vinayagar, Subramaniyar, Navagrahas, Jyeshta
Devi, Saneeswarar, Bairavar, Suryan and Chandikeswarar.
The
present temple may be reconstructed
during Nayak Period.
JYESHTA DEVI / THAVVAI
With the presence
of Jyeshta Devi, manthan & manthi and the name of the Lord Shiva of this temple, we presume that the original temple may belongs Chozha’s period (11 to 13th Century).
