Hero Stone / Ellai Sami / Pottu Sami /வீரக்கல் / எல்லை சாமி / பொட்டு சாமி, of Thiruvalangadu, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu.

The Visit to these Hero Stones at Thiruvalangadu was a part of the Tiruvallur Heritage Walk organized by Celebrate Kanchi, under the leadership of Mr. Vels Kumaran, on 22^nd & 23^rd April 2023.

ELLAI SAMI / HERO STONE

There are two hero stones found at the Junction of the bus stop. Of which one is worshipped as Ellai Kaval Theivam of Thiruvalangadu. The hero is in a standing posture, holding a sword with both hands. The sword is shown on the backside. A half-dress is shown below his hip.  

POTTU SAMI

The other Hero stone is on the other side of the road with a lot of kumkum tilaks. This is worshipped as Pottu Sami, one of the kaval Theivam of Thiruvalangadu. Only the head is Visible. This may not be a hero stone, since a Greeda makuta is shown on the head. This may be a female deity.
