The
Visit to these Veerabhadrar and Durgai sculptures at Perambakkam, is on the way to Veerapuram
was a part of Heritage Visit to Veerapuram in Chengalpattu District on 16th
April 2023.
Veerabhadrar… this
Veerabhadra is in worship under a metacolour sheet mandapam. Locals wrongly
identified this as Durga. In google map also marked as same. A Vinayagar is on
the left side of the entrance. A Shiva Linga and a Rishabam are on the right
side of the brick wall.
Veerabhadra
is standing in three banga posture.
Veerabhadra is wearing ornaments and padra kundala. He looks with protruding
eyes and canines /
கோரைப்பற்கள். He is with 4 arms holding bow and arrow in the
upper hands and a Sword in the lower right hand. Lower left hand is resting on
something may be thanda. Daksha
is standing on his right side.
Kali Amman / Durgai…
Locals wrongly call her as Veerabhadra and in google map marked as Kali. ( as a
Local guide gave a request for change of name ). Durga is buried up to hip
level in the ground. Durga is standing in samabanga posture with 4 hands. While
the upper hands are holding Conch and Chakra, the lower right hand is holding a
sword and left hand is kadi hastam.
