Rajendra period inscription of the South side wall starts with his meikeerthi
as Thirumanni valara… And the inscription also mentions as Rajathiya Grakathu
aadi arulina Peruman…
Considering the Thakkolam war happened near this place, Rajathitha Chozha was killed
in the war and the inscription mentions Rajathitha’s name, this temple may be a
pallipadai temple as per the experts.
The
Koshta murtis do not belongs to Chozha Period and Dwarapalakas are also missing.
The temple was reconstructed after Chozhas.
