ARCHITECTURE
The
temple consists of a sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam, and a common
maha mandapam. The temple was renovated in the 20th century. No architectural
style was followed during the renovation. A 2-tier brick Vimanam is on the sanctum
sanctorum. Hope this main temple's compound walls are built with laterite
stones, we do not know the fate of the old stones. The compound wall still
retains the old laterite stones. The Maha mandapa was constructed during the Vijayanagara Nayakas period, which was not disturbed during the renovations.
The walls are constructed with laterite stones
HISTORY AND
INSCRIPTIONS
It
is claimed that this temple was constructed during the Chozha Period, but couldn’t
find any details to prove the same. A renovation inscription tablet is fixed in
front of the Natarajar sannidhi with the two donors' images. The inscription is a little damaged, but readable to some extent.
