The
Original temple belongs to Pallava period and the present structure was
constructed during recent years. As per Epigraphica Indica XXVII, the antiquity of this
Village goes back to Pallava Times the Village being mentioned under that name
in the records of Pallava king Kampavarman ( 850 CE ). The Name of the Sivan
vayil means the abode or entrance of Shiva and the Sanskrit rendering of the
name would be as Shiva dvara. True to import the Village contains the remains
of the old temple of Shiva, when we approach the Village from the North. The
Shiva Linga is huge in size, with a Rishabam and the now the temple was
reconstructed. Old Temple pillars and
slab stones are dumped out side the temple, after the reconstruction of the
temple.

கண்டதாக குறிப்பிடப்பட்டு உள்ளது.
