The Visit to this Sri Viswaroopa Lakshminrusimha Swamy Temple at Kattavakkam was a part of “Narasimha Temples Visit” in Kanchipuram and Tiruvannamalai District, on 24th March 2024, ie Panguni Uthiram day conducted by Bhakthi Ula, Pattabhi of Ashok Medicals Velachery, Chennai. Apart from Narasimhar Temples, Vallakottai Sri Subramaniar Temple, Thennangur Pandurangan Temple and Perunagar Jyeshta Devi are also Covered in this visit..

Some of the salient features of this temple are…
The temple is facing east with balipeedam and Garudan. Dwararapalakas are at the entrance of the antarala. Moolavar in the sanctum is in sitting posture with abhaya varada hastam. Maha Lakshmi is on the Left lap of Nrusimhar. Adiseshan’s hood is on the top of the Nrusimhar.

Sri Viswaroopa Lakshminrusimha Swamy is sitting in yogic posture on six peedas namely Aathara peedam, Koorma peedam, Padma peedam, anantha peedam and yoga peedam. As per the sloka Moolavar is in a pleasing  smile “athi prasanna vadhanam-  அதிப்ரஸன்ன வதனம்” to hear the devotees prayers. Nrusimhar is holding Sudarsana  Chakra and bow & arrow in the upper hands and lower hands are in abhaya varada hastam. The Bow and arrow indicates his next incarnation of Rama. Nrusimhar is in athirudra form, with 3 eyes, ie the third eye on the forehead, similar to Shiva.

The twelve Vajra Dhamshtras –teeth - on the Nrusimhr’s face represent the 27 stars in the 12 zodiacs / rasis. The Navagrahas forms in one as Nrusimhar’s radiant face. The moon ( Chandra ) representing his left eye, the Sun ( Surya ) on his right eye and the Mars on his third eye. Venus ( Sukran ) on his nose, Jupiter ( Guru ) on his upper lips, Mercury ( Buthan ) on his lower lips, Kethu on his right ear and Rahu on his left ear and Saturn ( Sani Bagavan ) on his tongue makes this Simhapura Sthalam a very special parihara sthalam.

The unique features of the Nrusimhar signifies the six incarnations of Maha Vishnu. The sacred weapons signifies his four incarnations. Koorma Peedam signifies the Koorma Avatar. Vajra Dhamshtram signifies the Varaha Avatar, Vajra Nakam signifies Narasimha Avatar. The bow and arrow signify the Parasurama and Rama Avatar and the Chakra signifies the Krishna avatar. This Lord is holding the sacred weapons ( Vajranakam, Vajradhamshtram, chakra and Bow and Arrow ) which were used to destroy the demons during his three incarnations and gave Saba vimochanam to the two dwarapalakas Jaya and Vijaya.

The Nrusimhar also has special features of Nava Nrusimhas similar to the Ahobhila Divya Kshetram in his Divya Mangala Vigraham. The chakra in his hand signifies the Chatravata Narasimhar, Vajra Dhamshtram signifies the Kroda Narasimhar, Vajra Naka signifies the Jwala Narasimhar, of Ahobila Narasimhar and Bhargava Narasimhar, the athi prasanna vadhanam of Malola Narasimhar can be seen in Sri Viswaroopa Lakshminrusimhar’s divine face. The lord is holding Bow and arrow on his hands just like Karancha Narasimhar. The Lord seated in the Yogic posture signifies the Yogananda Narasimhar. Sri Viswaroopa Lakshminrusimha Swamy’s beautiful eyes which responds to all our prayers signifies the divine eyes of Pavana Narasimhar.

Maha Lakshmi is sitting on his left lap, embracing Nrusimhar with the right hand and holding a lotus in left hand.

There are no images on the Deva koshtas. Utsavars are in front of Moolavar.  Alwars are  in the antarala.

In praharam Garudan, Senai Nathar, Hanuman, Thanvandhiri, Poovarahar, Lakshmi Hayagreevar.

ARCHITECTUTE
The total temple was constructed with bricks and cement concrete. The temple consists of sanctum sanctorum and antarala. The sanctum sanctorum is on a platform with jagathy, vrudha kumudam and pattikai. The bhitti starts with vedikai. The pilasters are of brahma kantha pilasters with kalasam, kudam, lotus petals mandi , palakai and vettu pothyal. The prastaram consists of valapi and kapotam with nasi kudus. The Vimnam above the prastaram is of two tiers, greevam and dravida sigaram. Maha Vishnu’s various avatars are on the tala and greeva koshtas. There are no images on the Vimanam.   





HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
As per Dasan, Sri ( Krupa ) Parthasarathy, an ardent devotee of Maha Vishnu, Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha came in his dream and directed him to construct a  temple for him with a 16 feet tall image as Visvaroopa Lakshminarusimha at this place Kattavakkam. The moolavar was installed during 2007. The Vimanam is called as Satyagyana Vimanam.   
The Sanctum sanctorum and Vimanam was completed and maha samprokshanam was conducted  in May 2011. 


POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Viswaroopam  will be from 07.00 hrs. to 07.30 hrs., pooja will be from 07.30 hrs. to 09.00 hrs. and darshan will be from 09.00 hrs. to 12.00 hrs. and 16.00 hrs. to 19.30 hrs.

Archana will be done only one time in a day, ie during pooja hours. 

Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are also done on Nrusimhar jayanthi, Vaikunta ekadasi, and all important vaishna festival days.

The temple will be kept opened between 07.30 hrs to 12.00 hrs and 16.00 hrs. to 19.30 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
The temple is on Walajabad to Sunguvarchatram Road, about 5 KM from Walajabad Railway Station and Bus Stand. And Walajabad is midway between Chengalpattu to Kanchipuram, Tambaram to Kanchipuram, Via Padappai, Oragadam and Walajabad.
Autos are available from Walajabad bus stand.
Nearest Railway station is Walajabad.
From Chennai bus routes are- 79 - Ashargana/Alandur Bus Stop.
